The neighbourhood of Testaccio in Rome is now home to a Big Bambú – the latest in a series of similar art installations created by American twins Mike and Doug Starn. The installation at the MACRO museum (map) is around 80 to 100 feet (25 to 33 meters) high, and features a double helix staircase to take visitors up through the disorienting maze of bamboo. It’s free to go up, but you need to fill out a form absolving third parties in case of any incident. You’ll also need ID.
Visit the artists’ website to read more about the construction of the installation.
